Editorial Policy

My goal at SaaSSoftwareReviews.com is simple: help people choose software with confidence. This page explains how I research, write, edit, and (eventually) monetize my content, so readers and partners know what to expect from every article.

1. Who runs this site

SaaSSoftwareReviews.com is an independent publication about business software and SaaS tools. It is run by one named individual publisher rather than an anonymous team, because accountability builds trust.

I am not employed by, and do not take editorial direction from, any software vendor. You can read more on the About page.

2. Editorial mission

I aim to give small business owners, freelancers, and teams honest, practical guidance on choosing SaaS tools, without vendor marketing copy repackaged as a review and without hiding how the site is funded.

Each article is built around three questions:

  1. Would this genuinely help someone make a better decision?
  2. Is it based on first-hand use or verifiable research, not just a rewritten vendor feature list?
  3. Am I being upfront about anything that could influence my recommendation?

If an article can't answer "yes" to all three, I don't publish it.

3. How I research and write

Methods vary by article type, and each article says which one it used.

Step 1: Hands-on use where possible

Where access allows, I sign up for the product through a free trial, free plan, or paid account and use it for its intended purpose. I capture my own screenshots instead of using vendor press images. If I haven't used a tool, for example in a broad roundup, I say so.

Step 2: Consistent evaluation criteria

I look at the same things across articles so comparisons are fair:

  • Core features and how well they work in practice
  • Ease of setup and day-to-day use
  • Pricing and value compared with competitors
  • Customer support, where I was able to assess it
  • Integrations and scalability
  • Limitations, bugs, or dealbreakers I found

Step 3: Independent verification

When I cite pricing, plan limits, or features, I check the vendor's current pricing page and, where useful, cross-check against independent sources such as G2, Capterra, Vendr, and product documentation. Sources are linked in the article so you can check them yourself.

Step 4: Editing and fact-checking

Before publishing, I re-read each article against the live product or pricing page, because SaaS details change often. I update older articles when a vendor materially changes pricing, features, or terms (see Section 6).

4. Use of AI tools

I may use AI-assisted tools at points in my writing and editing process, for example to organize research notes or tighten wording. I remain responsible for every article:

  • I write, fact-check, and personally approve everything before it is published.
  • Product opinions, ratings, and recommendations reflect my own research and judgment, not generated text I haven't verified.
  • Screenshots and descriptions of how a product behaves come from real use or a linked source, not from AI assumptions.

5. Advertising and affiliate disclosure

Current status

This site is not yet approved in any affiliate network or advertising program, and it does not currently display Google AdSense ads. I plan to apply. This page and the Affiliate Disclosure will be updated when that changes.

Display advertising (if approved)

If the site displays ads through Google AdSense or other networks, they will be served automatically. I do not review or endorse individual ads, and their presence does not influence my ratings or recommendations.

Affiliate partnerships (if approved)

When I am approved for affiliate programs, some links on this site may be affiliate links. If you click through and buy or sign up, I may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. I may apply through networks such as Impact, FlexOffers, CJ Affiliate, and Awin, or through individual software companies' own programs. I will use these links only where I have been approved.

Compensation never determines my ratings, rankings, or recommendations. A tool that pays a higher commission is not rated more favorably than one that pays less or has no affiliate program. Where an article contains affiliate links, a plain-language disclosure appears near the top, in line with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255).

6. Corrections and updates

SaaS products change constantly, so:

  • I periodically re-check published articles for accuracy.
  • When I learn something is outdated or wrong, I update the article and change its "Last updated" date.
  • For substantive corrections, such as a factual error about pricing or a feature, I note what changed.
  • You can report an error using the contact details below. I read every report and look into each one.

7. Editorial independence

  • No vendor is allowed to review, approve, or edit an article about their own product before publication.
  • Being accepted into an affiliate program does not guarantee coverage, and coverage does not guarantee a favorable rating.
  • I do not accept payment in exchange for a positive review. If I ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labeled "Sponsored." None exists on this site now.
  • If I publish guest contributions in future, they will follow the same fact-checking and disclosure standards and carry a byline.

8. Reader feedback and corrections

If you spot an error, used a tool differently from how I describe it, or represent a company and think I got something wrong, please write to me.
